The day is approaching, 01/01/2010, the beginning of the new decade and new resolutions! As always, there are so many ways to get us motivated and ready to make 2010 the best year ever! Here is a quick summary of some of the aids that can help make 2010 THE year!

Feathers will get ruffled and many pearl necklaces will be clutched when Helena Andrews, memoir, “Bitch Is the New Black” makes it to the bookstores and hits the big screen. Simply put, young, single, successful, black women lonely in the city. The setting is in Washington D.C., but can be played out anywhere in the United States.

As 2009 draws to a close and another decade passes, new beginnings take on added significance. One way StricklyChicks.com would like to start the new decade off right is with the launch of Fab Chick 2010! Fab Chick 2010 is a way to create and encourage opportunities for women owned businesses. Many of us are working traditional 9-5’s, mothers, wives and entrepreneurs who are burning the candle at both ends. As you may have heard, Twitter was hacked again for under an hour yesterday. The group, Iranian Cyber Army was successful in defacing the Twitter homepage and main application service page. What at first appears to be a cyber prank has international political implications.

Filling my time with past episodes of SATC and countless viewings of the SATC movie, in anticipation of 5/28/2010, is therapeutic to say the least. The countdown has begun, and during my Internet fix, I stumbled upon some interesting stuff by some true fans.

Today is World AIDS Day, the statistics and facts are clear and the stories are real. 33.4 million people living with HIV worldwide. AIDS.gov reports people of color are at disproportionate risk for HIV infection. Nearly half of new infections (49%) were among African Americans, who make up only 13% of the U.S. population. Hispanics accounted for 18% of new HIV infections—and make up only about 15% of the U.S. population.
